Thank you for visiting this page. If you're here, it means you're thinking about ways to support our charity - we're very grateful for your support.

We've put together a few ideas for anyone looking to support us over the Christmas/New Year period. They don't require a lot of work, or a big donation (unless you want to of course!), but can help to get other people involved and raise more awareness about vestibular conditions. Thank you!

Christmas Campaign

  • Donate to our Research Fund - Please encourage family, friends or colleagues to donate to our 2024 Christmas campaign. Research is so important and more studies are needed into debilitating vestibular (inner ear) conditions; but we need more funds to keep our programme going. Visit our Christmas Campaign fundraising page on JustGiving (external link) to donate to research NOW. Funds raised will be used to support research projects. Visit our website to find out more about our ongoing research programme.

Christmas/New Year Fundraising Ideas

  • Walk with Us! All you have to do for this is go for a walk. It doesn’t matter how long or short your walk is, we'd love for you to get involved. We'll be taking part too. Send or tag us in a photo of your view! Don’t forget to ask everyone taking part to make a donation! You can either create a fundraising page or ask for donations to go directly to our Christmas Campaign (link above).
  • Christmas Tree Decorating Contest Almost everyone who celebrates Christmas will have a tree, so why not create an event between friends and family to see who is the most creative with their tree. You could even ask each person to give a small donation as a little entry fee to the competition. May the best tree win! Don't forget to share your photos with us.
  • Design/Create a Decoration - Bring family and/or friends together to create a Christmas decoration. Ask for a small entry fee (e.g. £1) which will be donated to the Meniere's Society. May the best/worst decoration win! Send a picture of the winning bauble to us with your fundraising donations.
  • Donating Christmas - If you're not sure what to say when your family ask what you want for Christmas, why not suggest they make a donation to the Meniere's Society instead, in lieu of a gift. Donations can be made direct with us (click 'donate' above right or below); by setting up a Justgiving page or Facebook fundraiser (log into Facebook and choose 'fundraisers' from the menu on the left of your page/community resources).
  • Gift Membership - Do you know someone who may benefit from Meniere's Society membership? If so, why not give a gift of membership this Christmas. We'll include a Christmas card with a message from you with their membership pack. Contact us direct to arrange this. Email: info@menieres.org.uk or call us: 01306 876883.
  • Guess the Weight of the Christmas Cake - Whether you're nine or 99 this is always a fun challenge. If you've baked a Christmas cake this year, get everyone to guess the weight. Ask for a donation to the Meniere's Society to join in. To make it even easier, we've created a 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' template form for you to print and use!
  • Icing on the Christmas cake - There's probably a good chance you've put icing on a cake before. But have you done it blindfolded? This fun game is a great way to get family and friends into the festive spirit. Ask for a small entry fee (e.g. £1) and donate to the Meniere's Society.
  • Secret Santa - Instead of spending £5 on Secret Santa presents, ask those taking part to set the limit to £4 and have everyone donate the extra £1 to the Meniere's Society. Donations can be made direct with us (click 'donate' above right or below); by setting up a Justgiving page or Facebook fundraiser (log into Facebook and choose 'fundraisers' from the menu on the left of your page/community resources).

New Year New You

  • Clutter Clearout - We all think about a fresh start to a new year, so how about doing just that for 2025. Let's start with a clutter clear-out and raise money for the Ménière's Society at the same time. You could sell unwanted items online or get your children to raise sponsorship by tidying their rooms - and keeping them tidy over the school Christmas holidays!  The result - more space for you and you can do the fundraising from the comfort of your own home. Win-win!
  • Dry January - Give up something for January - whether it's alcohol, chocolate or less time gaming, whatever you choose, ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you to achieve your goal.
  • Try January - If you've set yourself a new year's resolution to do more exercise, read more books or try something new, get some motivation by gaining sponsorship from friends, colleagues and family.
  • New Year Walk - We all need a little exercise after Christmas, so why not get a group of friends and family together to do a winter walk (see 'Walk With Us', above).

Raising Awareness

We know it's a difficult financial time for everyone at the moment and at Christmas we can feel the pinch even more. If fundraising isn't an option right now, you can still support us by helping to raise awareness and understanding...

  • Talk about your condition and our work with friends, family, colleagues.
  • Share our social media posts
  • Write a case study for us to share on our website, social media and in our magazine.
  • Become a 'Vertigo Voice Champion'

We'd love to hear from you

We enjoy sharing stories and successes in our magazine, Spin, and our online platforms. Please contact us and let us know if you're raising funds and/or awareness for us over the festive season. After the event, tell us what you did and how much you raised, etc. Send us a few words and a photo if you're happy for us to share your achievements.

Sending money to the Ménière’s Society

Please ensure any money collected for the Society is sent to us as soon as possible after the event. If cheques have been made payable to you or you have been given cash, don’t worry, just pay them into your bank account and then send us a cheque for the total amount. Alternatively, you can donate via our website (click the 'donate' button on top right of this page or in the box below) or pay direct into our bank account – please contact us for details. Cheques should be made payable to the Meniere’s Society and sent with details of how the money was raised to Meniere’s Society, The Atrium, Curtis Road, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1XA. Please include your name, address and details of your event with your cheque so that we can say ‘thank you’.

Please ensure any fundraising is undertaken safely and legally. More info here.
