Have you got what it takes to be a trustee of the Ménière’s Society?
The Ménière's Society is a UK registered charity providing information and support to those affected by vestibular conditions. The Society is currently seeking to recruit further trustees to the board.
Applicants should support the Society’s aims and objectives to:
- promote and provide care and relief for sufferers from Ménière’s Syndrome and related vestibular conditions
- provide support for sufferers, their families and carers
- promote, assist with or encourage schemes of research, education or technical training having as their basis the improvement of diagnosing, alleviating and curing Ménière’s Syndrome and related vestibular conditions
- promote scientific research into the causes of and alleviation and cure of Ménière’s Syndrome and related vestibular conditions and the publication of the useful results of such research.
You will recognise the Ménière's Society’s strengths and achievements, but also act as a critical friend and make suggestions for improvement and change. We are keen to receive applications from members with experience in marketing, fundraising, research and HR . Previous trustee/board experience is helpful, but not essential. This is a voluntary role, however, travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Trustee meetings take place quarterly in March, June, September and December and the AGM takes place in October. In addition, there are other opportunities to support the Society’s work at events and meetings throughout the year. Induction and training is available for all trustees. The Charity Commission document: The essential trustee: what you need to know, what you need to do (cc3) (external link) provides further information about the roles and responsibilities of a charity trustee.
