Scientific Essay Competition

Winners Announced

Our thanks to everyone who took part in our inaugural scientific essay competition. We had a great response, with many great quality essays.

The Marie and Gordon Nobbs Award 2016 was awarded ex aequo to:

Congratulations to both our winners who will each receive a certificate and a cheque for £500.

Runners Up

Due to the high quality of the essays, the judges also decided to award two runners-up prizes of £50 to:

Finally the judges want to give a special mention to Ben Folland who entered the competition with his essay entitled “A look at the rate of success of available treatments and procedures”. Ben is aged just 12 and, although his essay wasn’t shortlisted the judges were impressed with his data collection and analysis of results. Well done to Ben who will also receive a small prize from the Meniere’s Society.

Winners and runners up will be contacted by the Meniere’s Society.

All winning essays will be published in the next issue of our magazine, Spin. We hope to also make them available online too. Watch this space!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the competition. We’re sorry if your essay wasn’t one of our winners on this occasion. If you didn’t win, or weren’t able to enter this year, look out for our next competition in 2017!
Gordon Nobbs and the late Marie Nobbs MBE
